Online Therapy for Therapists in Florida
Hey, Therapists need therapy too!
As mental health professionals, we are more likely than the average population to experience compassion fatigue and burnout.
Being a therapist doesn’t mean things like anxiety, depression, and PTSD don’t affect us.
In fact, we are more prone to vicarious traumatization and secondary trauma as a result of listening to other people’s issues day in and day out.
Especially if we are highly sensitive, intuitive, or empathic therapists.
Do you ever find yourself:
Feeling like you picked the wrong career field
Dreading going to work
Having difficulty maintaining empathy or feeling emotionally drained
Feeling overwhelmed by clients' emotional struggles
Having persistent thoughts of wanting to escape or avoid work
Finding it Difficult to concentrate during sessions
Experiencing physical exhaustion or frequent illnesses
Feeling detached or disconnected from clients
Experiencing compassion fatigue or emotional numbness
Observing increased irritability or impatience with clients
Noticing a loss of enjoyment in helping others
Struggling to set boundaries with clients or work hours
Having thoughts of leaving the profession
If so, you may be experiencing compassion fatigue or burn out!
A story of burned out therapists going to lunch…
One of my closest friends (who is also a therapist) and I once had a conversation about what we would rather do than therapy.
I was like ”I could be a janitor or mow lawns, they are both independent jobs that are fairly quiet.”
She then admitted to walking by the morgue as part of her job, and thinking, ”I could do that, your patients don’t talk back.”
I burst out laughing.
Yes, as therapists (like nurses and preschool teachers) we often have a dark sense of humor. It helps us get through some of the difficulties we see. But, the truth was we were both experiencing symptoms of compassion fatigue.
And, knew we needed to do something different than what we were currently doing. If you have ever had these kinds of conversations, you know you may need a change.
I get it! Being a therapist is hard. Being a therapist post-pandemic can feel impossible! Here’s the good news, it doesn’t have to!
In our therapy sessions, we'll dive into not just the facets of your personal life, but also explore how these aspects intertwine with your professional world.
Together, we'll examine areas where you might be overextending yourself, grappling with maintaining healthy boundaries, and identify strategies to regain equilibrium.
We'll go over how specific clients or situations may be triggering for you, evaluating whether it's time for a shift in approach or focus.
My aim is to provide a safe space where we can collaboratively navigate these complexities and empower you to find greater balance and fulfillment in both your personal and professional spheres.

Finding Therapy for Therapists Can Be Difficult
You know you need your own therapist.
You’ve been around the block enough to know that you need a therapist who understands burnout, compassion fatigue, vicarious traumatization, and other therapists.
You have been looking for a therapist to talk to. You may have even tried a few counselors. But, you’re afraid that by being a professional in the community, you might be judged.
Or, even worse… you’ve done so much work that the therapist you do find, while well-intentioned, won’t be able to take you deep enough.
One of the benefits of online therapy for therapists is that you can see a therapist that is NOT in your community.
Don’t worry! I got you. As a therapist who has done their own deep work, and who has been in a small community, I know the importance of having a great therapist that doesn’t make it weird when you see them out and about.
My Approach to Online Therapist Counseling
As an online therapist that has sat on both sides of the couch,(or screen) I get it. We often need a therapist that is healthy enough to take us to the next level. A therapist that won’t judge us when we get real about how a client has triggered our unhealed stuff. One that understands when you reluctantly admit to sitting in a session thinking “Oh my God, please quit whining.” It doesn’t mean that you are a bad therapist. Instead, you are a therapist that needs self-care and is carrying too much of a workload. That is where I come in with virtual therapist counseling in Florida.
As a therapist in Florida, I understand what it is like to have your own issues and how they impact your work. I get it when you have had a client trigger you. Or when your home life is distracting and interfering with your work life. I can help you find ways to accept self-care and balance. As a counselor, it can be difficult to seek out our own therapy. But in doing so, we prevent things like compassion fatigue, vicarious traumatization, and burnout.
If you are a mental health professional living in Florida and ready to invest in self-care for yourself, I invite you to reach out so we can begin our online therapy together. You don’t have to live with compassion fatigue, burnout, or vicarious traumatization. You can have the career that you want!
